Introducing Snap, the flying camera from Vantage Robotics. Rather than a drone with a camera, this device is a camera with a drone attached. Equipped with a Sony Exmoor 4k sensor and automatic gimbal stabilization, Snap delivers quality video with 120 frames per second all at 1080p. Easily folding in half with a detachable camera, Snap also fits right in your bag so you can always bring it with you. The quadcopter design has a protection panel on the outside of each blade making Snap safe for everyone. The amazing technology inside this camera-drone combo enables it to automatically follow you for the best footage, all with no effort. In a single charge, Snap can fly for 20 minutes, reaching speeds of 30 mph and can handle winds up to 20 mph.
The camera itself will be a 4K-capable Sony Exmor sensor, mounted on a mini mechanical smooth-lock gimbal, which the company says is about 6 times lighter than standard drone gimbals.
While users will be able to use their phone or tablet to control Snap, Vantage Robotics has included a ton of software-based features that will let users capture professional quality camera shots without even having to control the drone.
Some of these features are air tripod, which lets the camera stay in place while automatically turning to keep the subject in frame; virtual wire, which allows the camera to follow a subject along a predefined wire (while avoiding any obstacles); and free-form following.The optional Base Station lets you stream broadcast quality video to the ground for detailed inspections, worldwide distribution, and real-time analytics. Control the camera and pinch to zoom video as you fly with a second controller tablet.Snap knows where it is and knows where you are.
