Description
The DGX-650 is an outstanding instrument, featuring the classic
sound, touch and response of a Yamaha piano. But that is only part of
the story; it also has a huge range of additional features which make it
a perfect choice for use in the home, studio, classroom or on stage. In
fact, the DGX-650 is an incredibly versatile instrument that gives you
so much more than just a digital piano.
The Sound and Touch of a Yamaha Piano
The piano sound you hear when you play the DGX-650 is that of a
Yamaha concert grand piano just like those seen on stage in concert
halls around the world. The sound of the piano has been digitally
sampled and stored so that, for example, when you play a C on the
DGX-650, you hear the C played on the grand piano.
The Pure CF Sound Engine recreates the detailed sound of a concert
grand while the 88-note fully weighted Graded Hammer Standard (GHS)
keyboard with adjustable Touch Sensitivity gives the player the feel and
response of a traditional acoustic instrument.
The included footswitch controls the sustain (damper effect) or
alternatively an optional three pedal unit (LP-7A) can be added to
provide soft, sostenuto and sustain pedals. A high-quality built-in
amplifier and speaker system complete a truly outstanding digital piano.
Compact and Portable
Thanks to its compact size, the DGX-650 is easy to transport and
gives you a great piano sound wherever you’re performing. You can
connect the instrument to an external amplifier/speaker system and use
the built-in speakers as monitors which ensures you can hear your
performance clearly.
Design
The DGX-650 looks great in the home, the studio or on stage. There is
a choice of black or white finishes and a matching stand is included.
Features for Students and Advanced Pianists
Along with all the usual digital piano functions, DGX-650 has a huge range of features to take your piano playing further.
There are 543 Voices in the instrument including pianos, orchestral,
organ, synthesizer sounds and drum kits. Voices can be combined or the
keyboard can be split to give a different voice on the left and right
hand. The Portable Grand Button instantly resets the instrument to Piano
only mode.
There are 195 Backing Styles programmed into the instrument which are
great way to discover playing different types of music and to emulate
performing with other musicians. The Style Recommender feature
automatically finds matching backing styles based on the type of music
you play.
The Backlit Display shows a variety of useful information including
voice and style selection, chords and music notation. Lyrics can also be
shown when using suitable song files. The on-screen Chord Dictionary is
useful for learning new chords quickly.
The Headphone Socket enables practice without disturbing others by using a pair of standard headphones (not included).
Recording and Playback Features
In addition to a 6-track MIDI note recorder, you can also use the
Audio Recorder to record audio tracks onto a USB stick (.wav format).
This can then be transferred to a computer for sharing or storage. By
transferring audio tracks from your computer on to a USB stick you can
play them back on the instrument to use as an accompaniment to your
performance.
Connectivity
Using the USB-to-Host Port, you can connect DGX-650 to suitably
equipped computers for use with a wide variety of music software
applications. The optional Yamaha i-UX1 lead connects the DGX-650
directly to an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. Apps compatible with DGX-650 are
available from the App Store.*
The USB-to-Device port on the front panel of the piano provides a
connection to storage devices such as a USB memory stick. This can be
used to store and transfer sound set-ups, song data and audio tracks.
The Audio Input Socket enables connection of MP3 players and other audio devices for playback through the instrument.
